I Environment
The first pass to cast copper sculpture maintenance is the environment. Its environment must be kept dry without dusts and air pollutants! The greenhouse temperature had better be controlled between 18℃-24℃ and the humidity between 40%-50%.
II Defense
While we are maintaining cast copper sculpture, we need to learn to defend some external harmful chemical substances such as acids and chlorides etc. In other side, in the movement of cast copper sculpture, the porters are sure to wear the cotton gloves. The reason that everyone is kept from touching the sculpture directly is for fear that sweats on hands might corrode the sculpture.
III Cleaning
In cleaning cast copper sculpture, special care is sure to be remembered. Clean and soft fabric must be used to wipe off the dusts. For grooves on the sculpture which are not easy to rub with the fabric, brushes or a dust collector are required to blow the dusts away.
IV Polishing
For cast copper sculpture in long-time placement with dullness, the scrub should not be applied with many efforts. Fine cloth of cotton fabric shall be used to wipe gently for polishing effect or the shinning afresh of protective wax layer on the sculpture surface. If some special polishing agents are added, it couldn't be better. But materials all need choosing to return their peculiar colors.
